Russian strikes on Kyiv region wound five, damage bridge and power grid
Russian overnight attacks on the Kyiv region wounded five people and damaged a bridge and energy infrastructure, according to Ukrainian authorities. The strikes disrupted heating and water supply systems in the capital. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said the Pivnichnyi bridge was closed to traffic in both directions after sustaining surface damage, along with a trolley wire and power line. Five vehicles were also damaged by the shockwave, and a child was among the wounded. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had warned Friday of new attacks on the energy sector and renewed calls for Patriot interceptor missiles. The US recently approved a $2.1 billion package of PAC-3 interceptors, but delivery may take years, as Russia has repeatedly targeted Ukraine's power grid during winters since its February 2022 invasion.
