Ukraine says all willing residents have left occupied Oleshky as 87-hour truce holds

nv.ua (Ukrainian) —

Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets reported that all residents who wished to leave Russian-occupied Oleshky are now en route, with the agreed ceasefire for the evacuation holding for 87 hours without violations. Lubinets stated he personally continues coordinating the humanitarian mission, confirming that those who wanted to leave have departed and aid has been delivered. He thanked Ukraine's defense forces for enabling the mission and proposed making such operations regular under US First Lady Melania Trump's coordination. The evacuation follows an October 27 local truce brokered by Trump between Russia and Ukraine. About 1,700 people remained in Oleshky, lacking food and medicine, with Pope Leo XIV also requesting a humanitarian pause. The ceasefire is set to last until November 1.
