Ukraine resumes strikes on Russian oil refineries after two-week pause
Ukraine has resumed attacks on Russian oil refineries after a roughly two-week pause, according to Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, with two people reported killed. The strikes mark a renewed escalation in the conflict. Novak said three oil refineries and a gas chemical plant were attacked overnight Friday, with one facility sustaining minor damage. The governor of the Samara region reported two men were killed in a Ukrainian drone attack during cleanup and firefighting work, though Ukraine has not commented and the reports are unverified. The attacks come as US President Donald Trump has pressured Ukraine to halt strikes on Russian refineries to curb fuel price increases. Novak warned the renewed attacks could reduce Russian diesel exports, which are planned to increase to 2.15 million tons in November, and would "undoubtedly affect world markets."
