Ukraine's Neptune missiles destroy two Russian Su-34 jets in Volgograd region

podrobnosti.ua (Ukrainian) —

Ukraine's defense forces destroyed two Russian Su-34 fighter-bombers, valued at approximately $100 million, in a Neptune missile strike on an airfield in Russia's Volgograd region. The Ukrainian Navy said its coastal Neptune missile system targeted the Marynivka airfield, destroying two Su-34 aircraft belonging to the 11th Mixed Aviation Regiment. Ukraine's General Staff confirmed the October 29 strike, noting the Su-34 is Russia's primary platform for dropping guided bombs. Each Su-34 costs around $50 million and can carry up to 8 tons of ordnance. The General Staff said destroying these jets reduces Russia's ability to strike Ukrainian front-line positions and civilian infrastructure with guided bombs. As of October 29, Russia has lost 450 aircraft and 356 helicopters in Ukraine.
