Oleshky evacuation: Can all civilians leave before ceasefire ends?
Demining of evacuation routes in the occupied Ukrainian city of Oleshky has been completed, and a humanitarian convoy is ready to depart as a local ceasefire holds. Residents wishing to leave are promised evacuation by 14:00, with aid distribution planned after 14:30. Representatives from Ukraine, the US, and Russia have gathered to coordinate the mission, which follows an agreement brokered with the mediation of US First Lady Melania Trump. Around 2,000 civilians, including 40 children, remain in the blockaded city, where food supplies have been cut off since summer and roads are heavily mined. The silence regime is set to last until 22:59 on November 1. Ukrainian officials hope the operation's success could become a precedent for similar humanitarian missions, while the exact evacuation route remains undisclosed.
