Lubinets recounts three days without contact during Oleshky evacuation
Ukrainian human rights ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets returned from a humanitarian mission to Russian-occupied Oleshky, becoming the first Ukrainian official to physically visit such territory. He spent three days without communication during the operation. Lubinets said he spoke only Ukrainian with residents and met three groups: those staying, those evacuating to Ukraine, and those choosing Russia. The mission involved 25 buses for 750 people, with evacuees routed through Russia's Anapa and Belarus before reaching Ukraine. The ombudsman emphasized that even saving one person justified the mission, which was coordinated with Ukraine, the US, and Russia. A ceasefire in Oleshky, extended across the Kherson region, remains in effect until 22:59 on November 1.
