On the night of October 29, Russian air defense systems shot down 1,214 Ukrainian drones over Russian regions, marking one of the largest attacks of the conflict, coinciding with the Russia-Africa summit in Moscow. The Kremlin called the timing of the attack strange and stated it confirms the need to continue the military operation. Most drones were destroyed on approach to the capital, with 613 targeting the Moscow region, according to Mayor Sergei Sobyanin. Russian forces continue advancing on multiple fronts, and a humanitarian ceasefire is active in Aleshki, Kherson region, until November 1.
