Ukraine resumes drone strikes on Russian oil refineries, risking diesel exports
Ukraine has resumed drone strikes on Russian oil refineries after a pause, Russia's deputy prime minister said Friday, warning the attacks could reduce Moscow's planned diesel exports and impact global markets. Russia's energy official Alexander Novak said three refineries and one gas-chemical complex were hit overnight, with videos showing smoke near a facility in the Samara region. A regional governor reported two deaths. Kyiv did not immediately comment. The strikes follow a U.S.-brokered deal easing sanctions on Russia in exchange for diesel exports, which Washington sought to lower fuel prices before midterm elections. Novak said October shipments totaled 510,000 tonnes, with November planned at 2.15 million tonnes.
