Moscow repels mass drone attack; Sobyanin reports over 50 downed
Moscow was targeted by a massive drone attack on the evening of October 28 and night of October 29, with Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reporting that over fifty drones were shot down. The attack also disrupted operations at major Moscow airports. Sobyanin reported via Telegram that Russian air defense intercepted drones on approach to the capital, with emergency services responding to debris falls. The first report after midnight claimed 15 drones were repelled, and the total number of intercepted drones exceeded one hundred since the evening. Temporary flight restrictions were imposed at Vnukovo, Domodedovo, and Zhukovsky airports, with two planes from Turkey returning due to Vnukovo limitations. This follows similar drone attacks on Moscow on October 24, 22, and 18, which also caused airport disruptions.
