Evacuated Oleshky residents arrive in Ukraine via Belarus
Evacuated residents of Russian-occupied Oleshky arrived in Ukraine on October 31 via Belarus, following a ceasefire in the region. The humanitarian mission, supported by Melania Trump, brought over 750 people to Ukrainian territory. The evacuation began October 27 with a ceasefire in the Kherson region, later expanded for convoy safety. A Ukrainian delegation led by ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets traveled to Oleshky, where 25 buses and 50 medics assisted. Most evacuees chose Ukraine, while some opted for Russia. Arrivals at the Chernihiv region border received food, medical care, and reunions with relatives. Residents described critical shortages of food, utilities, and mobile service under occupation. The oldest evacuee was 94, the youngest just over a year old.
