Budanov: Humanitarian evacuations must become systemic solutions
Kyrylo Budanov, head of Ukraine's Presidential Office, confirmed the successful evacuation of residents from occupied Oleshky, stating they are now safe. He emphasized that humanitarian special operations must transition into systemic solutions. The evacuation mission, which began October 30, involved 25 buses with 750 seats. Evacuees were transported through Russia's Anapa and Belarus before reaching Ukraine. The oldest rescued person was 94, the youngest a one-year-old child. Budanov credited coordination with US First Lady Melania Trump and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. A ceasefire in the Kherson region held for 87 hours without shelling, according to ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets. President Zelenskyy announced the operation's completion on October 31, with the ceasefire in Oleshky extended until 22:59 on November 1. Some residents chose to remain or relocate to Russia.
