Ukrainian Drones Strike Russian Oil Hub in Samara Region
Ukrainian drones struck an oil facility in Russia's Samara region, over 800 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, targeting a key pipeline hub that supplies fuel to the Russian military. The attack marks another setback for President Vladimir Putin's forces in the ongoing conflict. The strike hit the production and shipping station in Prosvet, approximately 835 kilometers northeast of Ukraine, with resident video showing smoke columns rising over the city. The facility, which processes crude oil from Western Siberia for export and military use, was previously attacked on October 7 and has been repeatedly targeted since. The attack follows the collapse of a proposed US-brokered energy ceasefire, which Ukraine never formally accepted. It is part of a broader Ukrainian campaign since early 2026 using long-range drones to disrupt Russian fuel supplies and cripple its war effort.
