Russia Strikes Power Stations in Kyiv and Zhytomyr Regions
Russia struck two power stations in Ukraine's Kyiv and Zhytomyr regions on Wednesday, the Russian defence ministry said, continuing near-daily attacks on energy infrastructure as temperatures drop. The strikes also targeted a cargo vessel near Odesa. The attacks follow Tuesday's missile and drone bombardments that cut power to large parts of Ukraine, occurring a week before US-brokered peace talks were set to resume. Russia also hit regions including Poltava, Dnipro, Kirovohrad, and Rivne, according to Ukrainian officials. Russia-held Crimea ordered power cuts after an accident outside the region, and a drone attack near Krasnodar set fire to an Ozon logistics hub. Both sides deny targeting civilians in the war that began with Russia's 2022 invasion.
