Russian double-tap strike kills 33 in Komyshuvakha school attack
At least 33 people were killed and 50 more are missing after Russia dropped nine bombs on a school building in Komyshuvakha, southeastern Ukraine, where civilians were receiving humanitarian aid, Ukrainian officials reported. The attack, which President Volodymyr Zelensky called one of the war's bloodiest, struck a building used as a shelter and aid distribution center. A recently built concrete basement funded by the EU collapsed under the force of the bombs, and at least two rescuers and four police officers were killed in a second strike. The UN condemned the attack, stating it likely violated international humanitarian law. Russia has intensified aerial attacks across Ukraine, and the strike followed a known "double tap" pattern, with a follow-up attack targeting first responders.
