Kyiv water supply suspended after Russian strikes on energy grid
Water supply in Kyiv has been temporarily suspended due to Russian attacks damaging the city's energy infrastructure, which has cut power to the main water facilities of Kyivvodokanal. The company announced this on its official website. Kyivvodokanal specialists are working with energy workers to resolve the situation. Once power is restored, water will appear in apartments with a delay, as time is needed to restart equipment, fill networks, and stabilize pressure. Residents can use a network of public fountains for drinking water. Emergency power outages were introduced on November 3 in Kyiv and several other regions, including Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Odesa, and Sumy oblasts. An expert noted that local generation covers less than 5% of Kyiv's needs, and city authorities have not addressed energy resilience for nearly five years.
