Ukraine's air defense intercepted over 8,000 Russian drones and missiles in October, according to the Ministry of Defense, marking a significant defensive effort against mass aerial attacks. The interceptions included 14 Kh-101 cruise missiles, 11 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles, 12 Kalibr cruise missiles, and 4,455 Shahed-131/136 strike drones, among other targets. Over 43,000 tactical-level unmanned aerial vehicles were also neutralized. The ministry noted Russia varied flight routes and combined drones with decoys, while emphasizing the need for more effective countermeasures against ballistic missiles targeting civilian infrastructure. Ukraine continues to strengthen its multi-layered air defense system.
