Russian strike on Ukrainian aid centre kills 26 in Komyshuvakha
At least 26 people were killed in a Russian aerial bombardment of an aid distribution centre in Komyshuvakha, southern Ukraine, an attack President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned as "utterly horrific." Nine heavy guided bombs struck the village, with a second bomb hitting a shelter where survivors had gathered. The strike targeted a local school used for humanitarian operations, and rescue teams recovered additional bodies while operations were disrupted by drone threats. Zelensky said the attack proves Moscow "does not want any de-escalation," coming just days after a rare humanitarian ceasefire facilitated civilian evacuations from Russian-occupied Oleshky. The bombardment casts a shadow over proposed trilateral peace talks involving Ukraine, Russia, and the United States in Abu Dhabi later this week. Separately, Ukrainian military intelligence reported a $150m Su-57 stealth fighter exploded during engine startup at a Russian airbase.
