Ukraine Hits Major Russian Refinery in Fifth Night of Strikes

hotnews.ro (Romanian) —

Ukraine struck one of Russia's largest oil refineries with drones overnight Monday, marking the fifth attack on a major Russian oil facility in five nights, according to Ukrainian monitoring channels and the Kyiv Independent. The Slavneft-YANOS refinery in Yaroslavl, about 250 kilometers northeast of Moscow, processes roughly 15 million tons of crude oil annually. Governor Mikhail Evrayev confirmed the attack Tuesday morning, reporting two injured employees and an ongoing fire at the site. The strikes come ahead of US elections and follow President Donald Trump's repeated requests for Ukraine to halt attacks on Russian refineries. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Kyiv would stop targeting refineries if Washington provided Patriot interceptor missiles for one month.
