Russia Strikes Ukrainian Power Grid in Overnight Attack on Three Regions
Russia launched a massive overnight strike on Ukrainian electricity facilities in the Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kharkiv regions, targeting power supplies for military factories and the army, the Russian Defence Ministry said Tuesday. The ministry reported hitting four power plants, two electricity substations, and port infrastructure in Kiliia on the Danube river. It also claimed strikes on two cargo ships, one in Pivdennyi port and one in the Black Sea, allegedly delivering military equipment and dual-use cargo to Ukrainian forces. Reuters could not independently verify the Russian claims. The attack marks a significant escalation in strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure, which has been a recurring target throughout the conflict.
