Fedorov explains why underground school in Komyshuvakha collapsed under Russian strike
A Russian airstrike on an underground school in Komyshuvakha killed 33 people, with over 50 possibly trapped under rubble. The facility was used as a civilian aid distribution point. Ivan Fedorov, head of Ukraine's Infrastructure Restoration Agency, said the school met all construction standards but was not designed to withstand strikes from rare FAB-3000 bombs, each carrying over 1,400 kg of explosives—roughly three times the power of a ballistic missile. Nine bombs were launched in the attack. Fedorov noted all underground schools in Ukraine use a unified design provided free by an international organization. The agency will discuss potential design changes for future underground kindergartens with the Education and Defense Ministries. A three-day mourning period was declared in Zaporizhzhia region.
