Russian Strike on Komyshuvakha School May Be Deadliest Civilian Attack, NYT Reports
A Russian airstrike on a humanitarian aid distribution center in Komyshuvakha, Zaporizhzhia Oblast, may become the deadliest attack on civilians in the war, according to The New York Times. The strike hit a school serving as a shelter, killing dozens. The attack occurred on Monday, a known weekly distribution day for food and medicine, attracting many local residents. Rescue operations are ongoing, but the death toll has reached 40, with around 30 people possibly still trapped under the rubble. Russia reportedly used a "double-tap" tactic, dropping a second wave of bombs on first responders, killing at least two rescuers and four police officers. The school's concrete shelter failed against the massive bombs, each containing over 1,360 kg of explosives.
