Four Ukrainian police officers were killed in a Russian airstrike on the town of Komyshuvakha in the Zaporizhzhia region while helping civilians reach a shelter. The National Police of Ukraine confirmed the deaths on November 2, 2026. The officers died during a second strike on a shelter built in an underground school, which left people trapped under rubble. The attack also killed two rescuers and dozens of others, including local administration workers. The deceased officers had between 10 and 23 years of service. The initial airstrike hit a school distributing humanitarian aid, killing over 20 people, with President Zelenskyy noting a follow-up strike targeted the shelter. Three of the slain officers had been displaced by the occupation of parts of the region but continued their duties.
