Russian strike on Ukrainian school kills 31 in Zaporizhzhia village
A Russian strike on a school used as an aid distribution point in the Ukrainian village of Komyshuvakha killed at least 31 people, according to regional officials. The attack occurred near the frontline in the southeastern Zaporizhzhia region on Monday. Among the dead were two rescue crew members and four police officers, with five people injured and nearly 50 still unaccounted for. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russian forces dropped aerial bombs in a back-to-back strike, hitting the shelter after the initial bombing. The attack came a day after a local ceasefire expired, and Ukrainian officials condemned it as a deliberate strike on civilians. Russia's Defence Ministry claimed it targeted Ukrainian military units in the area, while both sides deny intentionally harming civilians.
