US-brokered Russia-Ukraine talks set for November 10-11 in Abu Dhabi

Russia and Ukraine will hold negotiations on November 10-11 in Abu Dhabi, with US mediation, US envoy Steve Witkoff announced Monday. The talks will address post-war security arrangements, de-escalation, humanitarian efforts, and next steps toward peace. Witkoff said US negotiators will meet this week in Brussels with France, Germany, the UK, the EU, and NATO to discuss security guarantees for Ukraine, European post-war security architecture, and economic opportunities for reconstruction. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Sunday he was available to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin. The announcement follows a rare local truce in the Kherson region that Russia declined to extend, and came as Ukraine reported Russian attacks on a school killing at least 26 people. The ceasefire was the longest since Russia's full-scale invasion began in February 2022.
