Russian Shahed drone carrying propaganda leaflets shot down near Kyiv

news.telegraf.com.ua (Ukrainian) —

On the evening of November 4, Russian forces directed an unusual Shahed drone toward Kyiv carrying propaganda materials with a QR code. Ukrainian defenders shot it down near positions of the 427th separate brigade of unmanned systems "Raroh." Commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' Unmanned Systems Forces, Robert Brovdi, reported the drone carried agitprop leaflets, with the QR code potentially leading to a cyber-phishing trap. The drone retained its combat capability, including over 30 kilograms of explosives. Russia first used Shahed drones for leaflet dispersal in October 2025, adapting containers originally designed for anti-tank mines. Similar incidents occurred in Sumy, Kharkiv, and Donetsk regions, with leaflets disguised as currency. Ukrainian authorities advise citizens not to pick up such items or scan unknown QR codes.
