Russian strike on Ukraine aid center kills 33 in Zaporizhzhia
A Russian attack on a humanitarian aid center in southeastern Ukraine killed 33 people, with over 50 more possibly trapped under rubble, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Tuesday. Zelensky called the strike on the village of Komiushuvakha in the Zaporizhzhia region "one of the largest Russian massacres of this war." Rescue teams recovered bodies from the destroyed aid center and shelter, while over 45 residents remain missing. The attack used Russian bunker-buster bombs containing nearly 1.5 tons of explosives. The strike coincided with a broader Russian barrage of 289 drones, 17 ballistic missiles, and 59 cruise missiles across nine regions, damaging power plants and hospitals. Ukraine declared three days of mourning in Zaporizhzhia, while Russia claimed to have shot down 856 Ukrainian drones overnight.
