Russian army's record losses: Ukraine targets scarce resources, says ex-soldier
Russian forces suffered record losses in October, exceeding 52,000 personnel, with Ukrainian drones accounting for a significant portion despite adverse weather conditions. A daily record of 2,500 Russian casualties was reported, including 708 attributed to unmanned systems units. Former soldier Serh Marko of the 59th Assault Brigade's unmanned systems battalion explained on Radio NV that Russia's losses stem from active covert mobilization linked to elections, not drone technology breakthroughs. He noted drones continue operating effectively in fog and rain, contrary to Russian expectations. Marko stated this is not the peak of the offensive, predicting even larger Russian losses within one to two months as Ukraine targets scarce enemy resources.
