Crimea hit by new power outages as blackouts spread across key cities
Crimea experienced new power outages overnight Wednesday, leaving Simferopol, Yalta, Sevastopol, Feodosia, and the Belogorsky district without electricity, according to local reports. Residents reported flickering lights and voltage fluctuations between 160 and 200 volts. Oleg Kryuchkov, an advisor to the occupation head, claimed a new accident occurred in the energy system outside Crimea, with restoration work underway and power supply restrictions introduced. This follows an October 24 blackout when a fire at the Taman substation, part of the Russia-Crimea energy bridge, caused widespread outages. The occupation authorities attributed that incident to a drone attack, leading to power and water restrictions across the peninsula.
