North Korean Bitcoin theft surpasses Tesla holdings, triples annual exports

ytn.co.kr (Korean) —

North Korean hackers stole 18,270 bitcoins from crypto exchange Binance, surpassing Tesla's holdings and tripling North Korea's annual export value. The theft is valued at approximately $1.4 billion. The stolen bitcoins exceed Tesla's 11,509 coins by 59% and double El Salvador's government holdings of about 7,820 coins. The total heist, including ether and stablecoins, reached $6.3 billion, the largest single hack in crypto history. The FBI officially attributed the attack to North Korean hacking group TraderTraitor, also linked to last year's Bybit theft. Binance recovered or froze about $3 billion and is compensating customer losses.
