Binance Covers 95% of Stolen Crypto, Withdrawals Resume

protothema.gr (Greek) —

Binance has covered 95% of the $6.3 billion in cryptocurrency stolen in the world's largest digital heist, using its own funds, and will resume withdrawals today. The exchange replaced the stolen assets with company money, while the remaining 5% consists of less liquid cryptocurrencies that may take longer to replenish. The FBI attributed the attack to a North Korean state-sponsored hacking unit called TraderTraitor. Withdrawals will begin between 08:00 and 11:00 Greek time, covering 15 cryptocurrencies including bitcoin, ether, XRP, and dogecoin. The exchange, originally founded in China, announced the first phase of withdrawals as part of its recovery plan.
