FBI blames North Korea for $6.3 billion Binance hack as withdrawals resume
Binance has resumed some Bitcoin withdrawals three days after a $6.3 billion hack, with the FBI attributing the theft to North Korean hackers and warning the stolen funds are being converted to another cryptocurrency. The FBI identified the TraderTraitor group, linked to North Korea's Lazarus group, as responsible for the October 29, 2026 attack. The stolen amount is four times larger than the previous record crypto theft of $1.5 billion from ByBit in February 2025. The FBI has published about 500 Ethereum addresses used for laundering and asked platforms to block related transactions. Binance promised to cover the financial impact, while President Donald Trump expressed doubt about North Korea's involvement, saying more information is needed.
