The FBI has attributed the theft of over $6 billion in virtual assets from cryptocurrency exchange Binance to North Korea, stating the hack occurred around October 29, 2026. The FBI blamed the North Korean hacking group "TraderTraitor" for the breach, noting that stolen assets are being converted primarily into Ethereum. The bureau is working with the US Secret Service and IRS-CI to track the funds. The FBI has urged blockchain operators, DeFi platforms, and exchange services to block transactions from hacker-controlled addresses, which it has published.
