Binance Reopens Withdrawals After Recovering 95% of $6.3 Billion Hack

pcmag.com —

Binance reopened withdrawals after recovering 95% of funds stolen in a record $6.3 billion cyberattack, the largest crypto theft ever recorded. The exchange paused withdrawals immediately after the hack, which blockchain investigators and the FBI attribute to TraderTraitor, a North Korean state-sponsored group. Binance says the remaining 5% of stolen tokens are less liquid and may take longer to replace. The hackers reportedly accessed Binance’s hot wallet signing system, draining funds across ten blockchains in about 20 minutes. The FBI has linked the same group to previous hacks, including a $1.5 billion Bybit theft in February 2025.
