FBI Links Binance Heist to North Korean Hackers
The FBI has attributed the theft of billions of dollars from Binance, the largest crypto heist in history, to North Korean hackers. The bureau identified the attackers as an entity known as TraderTraitor. The FBI stated the attack involved malicious cyber activity and linked it to the same actors behind a $1.5 billion Bybit hack last year. It asked exchanges and analytics firms to block transactions tied to specific addresses, noting TraderTraitor is converting stolen assets primarily into ethereum. On Thursday, $6.3 billion in bitcoin and other digital currency was stolen from Binance within minutes. The company said it has reserved enough digital currency to cover 90% of the missing assets and promised full customer reimbursement.
