FBI links Binance hack to North Korea, $6 billion stolen

pravda.com.ua (Russian) —

The FBI has attributed the theft of over $6 billion in virtual assets from cryptocurrency exchange Binance to North Korea, stating the attack occurred around October 29, 2026. The bureau blamed the North Korean hacking group "TraderTraitor" for the breach, noting that stolen assets are being converted primarily into Ethereum. The FBI, alongside the Secret Service and IRS-CI, expects funds to be laundered through DeFi services and instant exchanges. The FBI has urged node operators, exchange services, and blockchain analytics firms to block transactions from hacker-linked addresses, which have been publicly released. The October 29-30 attack was the largest cyber heist in cryptocurrency history.
