FBI says North Korea behind $6 billion Binance hack

nv.ua (Ukrainian) —

The FBI has stated that North Korea is responsible for the theft of over $6 billion in virtual assets from the cryptocurrency exchange Binance, which occurred on October 29, 2026. The FBI identified the malicious cyber activity as TraderTraitor, noting that hackers are converting stolen assets primarily into Ethereum. The bureau is working with the US Secret Service and IRS-CI and expects the funds to be laundered through decentralized finance services. Binance confirmed the hack, which may have resulted from a compromised employee laptop, allowing unauthorized withdrawals of up to $6.3 billion. The FBI has published a list of addresses used by hackers and urged service providers to block transactions with them.
