Binance resumes crypto withdrawals after record hack
Binance has resumed cryptocurrency withdrawals days after hackers stole over $6 billion in what is the largest crypto heist on record, with the FBI attributing the attack to North Korean hackers. The world's largest crypto exchange halted transactions Friday morning in Asia after the hack was discovered, reopening bitcoin withdrawals Sunday. Binance said it is restoring access to other digital currencies gradually, prioritizing tokens based on user demand while completing stability and security checks before reopening each network. Binance previously stated it would compensate victims of the hack. The FBI announced Saturday that North Korea was likely responsible, attributing the attack to TraderTraitor, an elite hacking unit also linked to the 2025 Bybit attack that stole $1.5 billion. President Donald Trump said the U.S. is not certain of North Korea's involvement, while Pyongyang denies using state-linked cyber units for theft.
