FBI accuses North Korea of stealing $6 billion in crypto from Binance

andina.pe (Spanish) —

The FBI accused North Korea on Saturday of stealing over 6 billion dollars in virtual assets from cryptocurrency platform Binance, marking the largest reported cryptocurrency theft to date. US investigators attributed the record heist to the North Korean hacker group TraderTraitor, which allegedly converted the stolen funds into Ether as an initial laundering step. The FBI released roughly 500 Ethereum addresses linked to the laundering operation. Binance, the world's largest digital currency exchange with 335 million users, confirmed it was targeted in a complex cyberattack. The FBI urged platforms and blockchain firms to block transactions tied to the identified addresses.
