The FBI has officially accused North Korean hackers from the TraderTraitor group of attacking the Binance cryptocurrency exchange, resulting in the theft of over six billion dollars. The bureau announced the accusation on November 1, 2026. The FBI stated the attack occurred around October 29, 2026, and observed hackers converting stolen assets primarily on the Ethereum blockchain. It believes the funds will be laundered through DeFi and instant exchange services, urging virtual service providers to block transactions from listed hacker addresses. Initial reports noted that hackers withdrew nearly three billion dollars from Binance hot wallets on the evening of October 29, with the total theft later confirmed at 6.3 billion dollars. The FBI has published the relevant addresses on its website.
