Binance resumes withdrawals after $6.3B hack FBI links to North Korea

boursorama.com (French) —

Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, announced Sunday it is gradually resuming withdrawals after a record $6.3 billion hack that the FBI attributes to North Korea. The company confirmed the first batch of bitcoin withdrawals is now open. The exchange had suspended withdrawals Thursday to stem the losses, promising users their funds are safe and that Binance will absorb the financial impact. The FBI identified the North Korean hacker group TraderTraitor as responsible and published roughly 500 Ethereum addresses being used to launder the stolen assets. The theft is four times larger than TraderTraitor's previous record $1.5 billion heist on ByBit in February 2025. Binance says it has already recovered 90% of the stolen amount by purchasing equivalent assets, while President Donald Trump has expressed doubt about Pyongyang's involvement.
