Binance Sees $3.6 Billion Withdrawn After $6.3 Billion Hack

bahianoticias.com.br (Portuguese) —

Binance recorded a net withdrawal of $3.64 billion in 9.5 hours on Sunday after partially resuming withdrawals, following a hacker attack that stole $6.3 billion in digital assets. The withdrawals represented 2.1% of the company's total custodied assets, which analysts said indicated no widespread panic among investors. The FBI attributed the attack to North Korean cybercriminals, and it is being investigated as one of the largest financial thefts in history. Binance management said it will fully cover user losses using $6 billion from its own cash, an insurance fund, and emergency reserves. Co-CEO Yi He stated on X that security is the top priority before users can withdraw funds and operations resume.
