Binance sees $3.64 billion in outflows after hack, withdrawals stabilize

cnnbrasil.com.br (Portuguese) —

Binance customers withdrew $3.64 billion, or 2.1% of assets, after the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange resumed operations on Sunday following a hack that stole billions from the platform last week. The exchange said withdrawals were stabilizing after an initial peak and that deposit volumes remained "substantial." Binance reported recovering 95% of the $6.3 billion in stolen assets, while the FBI attributed the attack to North Korean state-sponsored unit TraderTraitor. The theft, considered by analysts the largest financial heist in history, adds to recent cryptocurrency crimes. Binance pledged to cover financial losses, using its $1 billion SAFU fund and other reserves, while co-CEO Richard Teng described it as a "complex attack" involving a compromised laptop.
