Ukrainian internet prices to rise 50-100 hryvnias as Russian strikes hit providers

Russian strikes on Ukrainian internet providers' data centers have forced companies to warn subscribers of impending price hikes, with tariffs of 300-350 hryvnias expected to become a thing of the past. Telecom expert Alexander Glushchenko told UNIAN that prices could rise by 50-100 hryvnias per subscriber. The increases stem from providers needing to fund energy independence, backup equipment, redundant server infrastructure, and repairs from ongoing attacks. Kyiv and frontline regions face the highest risks, with providers expected to gradually raise prices around January 1, 2027, though not doubling them due to market competition. Mobile operators have already raised tariffs twice in the past year. Glushchenko advises subscribers to connect to fiber optic internet (PON technology) with at least two providers, as fiber can work up to 72 hours during power outages, and to keep cash and documents on hand in case services fail.
