Drone Attack Forces Novoshakhtinsk Oil Refinery to Halt Operations

usnews.com —

A drone attack damaged Russia's Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery, forcing it to temporarily suspend operations, Governor Yuri Slyusar said Friday. Russian air defence units destroyed about 50 drones over the Rostov region overnight. The strike follows discussions at the United Nations on a potential energy-related ceasefire between Kyiv and Moscow. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy warned Moscow that Ukraine would strike back and make winter painful for Russia without a truce on energy assets. The Novoshakhtinsk refinery has an annual capacity of 5 million metric tons of oil, mainly for export. Ukraine recently struck two major Russian oil refineries in Moscow and Yaroslavl.
