Russian drone kills boy in Kyiv strike

A Russian attack drone struck a high-rise building in Kyiv on Friday morning, killing a 14-year-old boy and injuring at least seven other residents, according to Ukrainian police. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the attack. The strike occurred amid audible defensive fire, with the jet-powered drone hitting the building before an air raid alert was issued, a dpa reporter said. Ukraine still lacks an effective defense against Russia's newly developed fast Shahed drones, and another fatality was reported from overnight strikes in Odessa. In response, Ukraine continued its own drone attacks on Russian oil and industrial facilities, reportedly targeting a refinery in Perm, a refinery in Novoshakhtinsk, an electronics factory in Ulyanovsk, and a chemical plant in Voronezh. Russia has pursued its war against Ukraine for over four and a half years.
