Zelenskyy urges backing for new US sanctions on Russia after Trump halts them
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged supporters Saturday to advocate for new U.S. sanctions against Russia after President Donald Trump signed an executive order pausing the restrictions, raising fears of Ukraine's vulnerability as winter approaches. Zelenskyy called the suspension unfortunate but avoided direct criticism of Trump, expressing hope the sanctions could be revived. He noted the measures could have pressured Russia to end the war, emphasizing that every supportive voice matters. Separately, Zelenskyy reported a massive Russian strike on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, targeting over 15 sites. Ukraine's air force said it suppressed or destroyed all four cruise missiles and 289 of 332 attack drones launched overnight.
