US House bill seeks to block Russian diesel deal

pravda.com.ua (Ukrainian) —

A bipartisan bill has been introduced in the US House of Representatives to block a US-Russia agreement on Russian diesel fuel, aiming to prohibit investment and impose sanctions on Russian energy. The legislation, introduced by Democrat Gregory Meeks, would bar the US International Development Finance Corporation from investing in Russian energy, revoke existing OFAC licenses, and mandate sanctions. Meeks stated the deal would not lower costs for Americans and would fund Putin's war. The bill has 17 co-sponsors. It follows Trump's October 8 announcement of an agreement with Putin to lift sanctions on Russian diesel, which came after he urged Ukraine to slow strikes on Russian refineries.
