Musk proposed Starlink slowdown for Ukraine, report says
President Donald Trump and Elon Musk have both denied responsibility for slowing Starlink satellite connections in Ukraine, but The Telegraph reports the slowdown was Musk's idea, citing four sources. Musk proposed limiting Starlink speeds to Trump, who responded favorably, according to the newspaper. Musk denied SpaceX restricted connections, claiming the U.S. military and president were behind any limitations, while Trump said Friday he was not responsible. The slowdown disrupted Ukrainian drone operations using Starlink for guidance, with receivers failing on fast-moving targets before partially resuming at speeds up to 160 km/h. Reuters previously reported the order came from within the White House, as Trump pressures Ukraine to halt strikes on Russian oil refineries.
