UN says it is not directly involved in evacuation mission in occupied Oleshky
The UN is not directly participating in the humanitarian mission in the temporarily occupied city of Oleshky, Kherson region, according to UN Coordinator in Ukraine Matthias Schmale. He stated the organization is in dialogue with stakeholders and has offered support if needed. Schmale said UN Emergency Relief Coordinator Tom Fletcher contacted the Russian UN mission regarding Oleshky, specifically requesting safe passage for residents and aid delivery, but has received no response. He noted the situation on occupied territories is difficult, with at least one million people needing humanitarian aid. The ceasefire in Oleshky began on October 27 and lasts until November 1, following efforts by US First Lady Melania Trump. Ukrainian ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets reported no incidents in the first 30 hours.
