Russian drone strike kills 13 at Dnipro railway station
At least 13 people were killed and five wounded when a Russian drone struck a platform at Dnipro railway station in central Ukraine on Thursday, striking a civilian electric train as it waited, Ukrainian authorities said. Regional governor Oleksandr Ganzha confirmed the casualties on Telegram, while Dnipro mayor Borys Filatov called it "a tragedy." Ukrainian Railways said a jet-powered drone hit the platform where train No. 866 Dnipro-Zaporizhzhia was parked, despite an elevated threat level being announced. Russia has repeatedly targeted Ukrainian trains since its 2022 invasion, destroying hundreds of locomotives and killing workers. In September alone, passengers were evacuated from over 5,800 services due to drone threats, highlighting the vital role of the rail network in the country.
